Bookmarklet: Enable Links in AKO Webmail |
| Brandon Morris, a colleague of mine on the Army's 53 Listserv inspired me to write a JavaScript bookmarklet to enhance the functionality of Army Knowledge Online (AKO) Webmail. |
|
I wrote the JavaScript bookmarklet for those who access AKO Webmail with a browser, instead of a desktop client (ie Outlook). The purpose of this bookmarklet is to easily re-format the prefixed "blocked" links recently implemented for email received in HTML format.
How it works: Create a bookmark with JavaScript snippet below, save it in your "Links" toolbar as "Enable AKO links" (or whatever). In Firefox, you can just drag the link directly to your Navigation toolbar. While viewing HTML message in AKO webmail with 'blockedhttp://' prefixed links, and after carefully hovering to review link content and validity, click your "Enable AKO links" button, and voilą! Embedded HTML links are now valid. The following caveats apply: this bookmarklet is for testing/educational/off-road/competition use only, not for production government systems. Should work in IE, FF, Safari, or Chrome, but this is pre-Alpha code, no promises made/implied. Enable AKO Links I would appreciate any feedback on how you are using this bookmarklet, or suggested improvements. |
