My aunt, Dr. Elizabeth Waldorf, graciously allowed me to publish this extraordinary set of short bios. Each of these concise, colorful, and well-researched articles detail the life and personality of a family member. Dr. Waldorf writes, "This effort attempts to record vital statistics wrapped in memories to make folks interesting. Each biography presents a summary of a life adventure. Those of us related to these fine people take strength from them, because they are Who We Are."

Barbour Co, AL, where he married, was a part of the Lower Creek nation, specifically the Sawokli tribe. The map (figure 1) shows the relationships of neighboring tribes. In 1832 the Sawokli included 2 chiefs and 56 families, according to F. W. Hodge. William was probably part of one of those families.
